
Jennifer Hensley for Hendersonville City Council
Jennifer knows and understands the City's diverse needs. She and her family live in Historic 5th Ave District. She is a city tax payer and understands the immense responsibility of balancing family, work, and community involvement. She is prepared to help lead the city with it's growth. With her experience as a community leader, and successful small business owner for over 20 years, she has worked under a budget process, will provide fresh ideas, and work hand in hand with our other community leaders to provide responsible growth and prosperity for Hendersonville. While education, public health issues, and affordable housing are all areas that Jennifer will continue to advocate for through her roles on local and state boards of Social Services, and other various boards she serves on; she also understands the role of City Council, it's function, and is able to work under the laws that the North Carolina General Assembly has conveyed.
- Listen to the needs of ALL residents and ensure that Hendersonville is welcoming to ALL people.
- Keep Hendersonville affordable! It is important to develop alternate revenue sources so that we can develop economic incentives to continue to build a strong and vibrant business community.
- Jennifer is very motivated to find alternate revenue(income to the city) sources AND reduce the property tax burden on all residents.
- Support our Public Safety, EMS, and Fire so that Hendersonville residents and businesses will be safe.
- Maintain an adequate fund balance in order to continue the highest level of bond ratings that local municipalities can have and protect our assets.
- Focus on economic development opportunities by creating a business friendly environment for start-ups and existing businesses alike.
- Work with City staff to seek grant and funding opportunities through state and federal grants to improve the city’s roadways, park infrastructure, and fiber internet services.
- Advocate for Greenways and expansion of existing trails to promote healthy lifestyles, community wellness, and increase income(revenue) for the city to lessen tax burden on tax payers
- Work with our surrounding cities and counties to reduce repeated services to save tax payers!
